Introduction
What?
ChordBot is a simple auto accompaniment synth that lets you create and play chord progressions on your Android phone.
Why?
Use it for songwriting experiments, as accompaniment for your guitar/ukulele/tuba solos, or just for fun.
How?
Just add some chords, select a style and tempo and hit play.

Audio samples
Here are some audio samples demonstrating some of ChordBot's comping styles. The styles are designed to be simple but usable. Just a bunch of discrete (mostly) patterns that won't get in the way of your compositions.
The songs are generated in real-time on the phone using instrument samples from Chris Collins General User GS soundfont. These recordings are straight from the phone, no effects have been added.
Features:
- 57 chord types - In all keys/inversions. Should cover anything but the most esoteric bebop songs.
- 23 comping styles - Covering a variety of genres. More styles will be added regularly.
- Slash chords - Specify the bass note for each chord.
- Auto inversion - ChordBot will automatically use the chord inversion that is harmonically closest to the previous chord.
- Transposition - Easily transpose your songs to any key.
- Song-O-Matic - Random song generator that helps you with composer's block
- MIDI/WAV file export - Refine your compositions in a full-fledged MIDI-sequencer like Cubase or Reason
Availability
The full version of ChordBot is now available for purchase at the independent Android marketplace SlideME.
In order to buy it you first have to set a few things up:
- Get an account at http://slideme.org and add a payment method on the Billing & payments page.
- Install the SlideME Application Manager (SAM) on your phone.
- Start SAM and browse to the music category (or use the search function) to find and install ChordBot.
Unfortunately the paid version of ChordBot is not yet available on the official Android Market since Google does not allow developers from my country (Sweden) to sell apps. The free demo is however still available on Google's Market (search for chordbot, or scan the QR code above).
Please let me know if you run in to any problems/bugs or if you have questions or suggestions for new features.
